Love communicates and listens to God and others as if they were one and the same. There is no division, no partiality or prejudice in His Love. As Yacob/Icobus/James so clearly teaches in James chapter 2.
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
Try asking people if they have any prayer requests and you will find that there are many people who gladly welcome your prayers for what ever issue is troubling them. This always amazes me because I’m not talking about “religious people”, although they welcome prayer as well. I’ve noticed there is a universal acknowledgement that “prayer” is an act of genuine love.
The importance and value of prayer is vast and has to do with our faith as we speak our requests out loud. “From the overflow of the heart our mouth speaks,” Matthew 12:34. The words that flow from faith are referred to as being like smoke from burning incense, Revelation 8:4. Our words dissipating into the atmosphere, rising upward into the dimension we are completely separated from physically.
Romans 8:25-27 We do not know how we ought to pray and the Spirit intercedes for us.
It’s our nature not to put enough value on the power our prayer requests have. Maybe it’s because don’t know how we ought to pray or what God’s will is when we pray? When I began to make prayer requests I would say the persons name I was interceding for, repeat their prayer request out loud and make a physical motion of giving them to God with my hand opened. Whether that is correct or not I don’t know, prayer is meant to be humbling. When one of my specific prayers were answered the way I’d hoped, I was ecstatic. When the answer unfolded in a way that brought pain and suffering, I mourned. There are no coincidences, we are to thank God for the good and the bad because He can be trusted. Romans 14:16-18
As I read what Jesus taught about loving one another, John 13:33-35 and the way we treat ourselves and each other being the way we are treated Him, Luke 6:30-32 ; Matthew 25:43-45 it’s just doesn’t fully compute.
The fact that we are viewing His Truth/Reality/Life through the darkness of our spiritual death/separation/deception is the reason we must ask God to expose our wrong thinking: Our hidden pride, our self-sufficiency and judgmental attitudes, everything that is offensive to God. This is possible as we sit in the light of His Love, (like King David in Psalm 139 asked God to search him and show him his offensive ways)
Meditating on His Words of Truth transforms our wrong thinking, Psalm 19:13-14 ; Psalm 104:33-35… focusing on a scripture, continually playing it over and over in your mind. Instead of re-playing worries, try turning your thoughts into prayers. If you can worry, then you know how to meditate. (Our mind can magnify a fear by playing it over and over until it has preoccupied our thoughts, we can also magnify God the same way).
Continually recalling God’s unseen attributes will magnify how Ineffable and Sovereign He really is. “For we live, move, and exist because of him…”, Acts 17:28. Worship helps to keep our perspective on Him and off of our selves. “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24
Be still and know that He is God, He will be exalted among the nations, He will be exalted in all the earth. Psalm 46:9-11 .
The fear (or reverence), (magnification) of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, Psalm 111:9-10 . Anything we fear or revere above God becomes an Idol that we have made bigger than and set above God.
Matthew 25:43-45 Jesus makes it clear that the way we treat people is exactly the way we are treating Him. Love is an action word, when we love others we pray for them when no one knows but God.
We need to pray for people the way the authors of the Bible relayed. Acts 6:4. Paul prayed for people to have a greater Love and that they would abound and mature in faith, knowledge and wisdom in the Spirit. That they would have Spiritual power, endurance, long-suffering, Joy, and gratitude. Ephesians 1, Philippians 1 and Colossians 1.
He prayed for Spiritual needs and reminded us that God is glorified in our weakness. Romans 12:12.
This is how we ought to pray, for everyone, routinely asking God to give all people these specific strengths.
“You have never locked eyes with a person who God does not Love”
“Praylessness is a declaration of independence from God.”
“Prayer is a declaration of dependency on God”.
Love prays and prayer is what we do when no one is looking because we believe that our Father sees everything we do.
