♥ Love takes a lot of swallowing pride and accepting people exactly the way they are. Seeing them through eyes of grace, the way God sees us is very humbling and it also opens the door for peace.
Instead of judging people and thinking it’s our job to decide what their motives are or thinking we are justified to do what we decide is fair. We have very clear instructions in God’s Word telling us not to judge or we will be judged by the same measure we judge. Matthew 7:1-3
What if people that claim they have faith in God, actually did what His Word teaches? What if when we pray the Lord’s prayer we actually do bring His will and His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven by actually doing what He has told us to do. “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9-11
What’s the most important instruction?
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Deuteronomy 6:4-6 ; Matthew 22:36-38 ; Mark 12:29-31 ; Luke 10:26-28
That one sums up all the rest; to Love is to give mercy, to forgive, to be compassionate, to care for widows and orphans in their distress, to share with the poor and needy, to welcome the stranger in our land, to bless those who curse us and to pray for those who persecute us and to give our enemy food and drink if they are thirsty or hungry. Romans 12:19-21 ; Luke 6:27-29 ; Matthew 5:43-45
Those last three seem humanly impossible but I have witnessed, first hand, God’s Spirit convicting the offenders heart as we are obedient to repay the evil done to us with good. 1 Thessalonians 5:14-16 ; Romans 12:20-21
Can you imagine living in a world that obeyed God and loved Him with a whole heart, mind and strength and loved others as themselves? There would be peace on earth, no more divorce, no murder, no stealing, no more lying…no more fear of whatever man can do to us because we believe God when He tells us this life is not lasting, but those who overcome this life will inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:28-30 ; John 16:32-33
1 John 4:19-21 whoever says, “I love God” Whom they cannot see but doesn’t love their brother, whom they can see, is a liar! Wow, are we lying to ourselves when we say we love God and then realize we are not loving the unlovable?
Do you feel justified in your offense? God is also justified not to forgive us for our offenses toward Him.
“Judgement is merciless to the one who shows no mercy but mercy triumphs over judgement” James 2:12-14
As we turn from our rebellious nature and take a step toward obedience, God’s Spirit gives us the ability to Love. He has an abundance of anything we lack and gives generously to all who ask, James 1:4-6 wisdom and Love, Joy, Peace, Patients, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control. Galatians 5:21-23
Hopefully someday, really soon, we, as a body of people, can finally live God’s Will on earth as it is in heaven. Peace be with you:)
