Would Jesus Celebrate Easter?

Jesus Would Have Celebrated The Festival of Passover

When Easter Was Added, God’s Spring Festival of Passover/Unleavened Bread Was Subtracted.

You must not add to or subtract from what I command you, so that you may keep the commandments of the LORD YHVH your God that I am giving you. Deuteronomy 4:2

Jesus Did Not Add to or Subtract from Torah

Many Christians today don’t even know Jesus rose from the grave on First-fruits, not Easter.  Even after I learned about the origins of Easter I continued to justify it by saying, it’s not about the Easter Bunny it’s about the resurrection of the Lamb of God.

That was before I began to study the Torah and Prophets for myself.  I was surprised to find the same fertility goddess, Ashtoreth, called Ishtar by the Caananites, Istar in Greek, Eastra in Saxon and Easter in English.

1 Kings 11:33  because they have forsaken me and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Milcom the god of the Ammonites, and they have not walked in my ways, doing what is right in my sight and keeping my statutes and my rules, as David his father did.

Before studying the Torah I hadn’t made the connection between the First-fruits offered at Passover/Unleavened Bread and Jesus, the Firstborn from the dead, Colossians 1:18Revelation 1:5…

1 Corinthians 15:20 But Christ/Messiah has indeed been raised from the dead, the First-fruits of those who have fallen asleep/died.

First-fruits is a translated term from the original Hebrew words, Rosh, #7218 meaning First, Head or Beginning.  Bakar, #1061, plural Bakarim, #1069, is a Set-apart measure of the First portion of the harvest.  Just as Bekor #1060 every First-born is Set-apart.

The First-fruits Sheaf, (Alummah #485 from Alam #481) is Bound and waved before YHVH, by the Priest, on the day after the weekly Sabbath (Saturday) the First day of the week (Sunday) following Passover.

Now all that may be too much information but don’t miss this, when the First-fruits were Accepted it meant the entire harvest was Accepted, (Ratzon #7522).

Leviticus 23:11  And he (the priest) shall wave the Sheaf before the LORD YHVH so that it may be accepted of your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath.

The year Jesus fulfilled the purpose of YHVH’s Passover Lamb, First-fruits landed on the Third day of the Seven day Festival of Unleavened Bread, Matthew 12:40; Jonah 2:2-6.

Now that is Good News!  The entire harvest is accepted, because Jesus was our First-fruits.  When we worship our Creator any way but His Way, we miss knowing that.

Deuteronomy 12:4 You shall not worship the LORD YHVH your God in that way.

Leviticus 18:30  You must keep My instructions not to practice any of the abominable customs that were practiced before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD YHVH your God.”

His Appointed Times are Set in The Stars

Genesis 1:14 And God said, “Let there be Lights, (Maor #3974 from Oor # 215) in the expanse of the sky to distinguish, (Badal #914) between the day and the night, and let them be Signs/a Witness, (Oth #226) for Appointed Times, (Moed #4150) and days and years.

The constellations (Mazzaroth #4216) have perpetually revealed the Truth of YHVH’s Set Times, from the very beginning.  Those who keep/guard His Torah learn to discern His Appointed Times, and they notice the additions and subtractions of every false prophet.

Like the Bereans, we are also to search the Scriptures, (The Torah and Prophets) to see if our beliefs are true.  Keep in mind the New Testament did not exist when 1st Century scribes referred to “the Scriptures.”

Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.

The Day Easter Was Officially Christianized

In the year 196 AD religious leaders made some big changes to YHVH’s Sacred/Holy/Set-Apart Pre-appointed Days, later, at the Council of Nicaea, 325 A.D., the changes were  officially declared.

Subtracting the first three of God’s Seven Holy Days; Passover, Unleavened Bread and First-Fruits, they Added Easter and began calling Passover/Unleavened Bread Communion.

It was human logic, not Torah, that made these religious leaders think it was a good idea to convert the pagans by incorporating their customs and Christianizing them.

Maybe if they’d read these word they would have realized it was a bad idea:

Deuteronomy 12:32 “See that you do everything I command you; do not add to it or subtract from it.”

Proverbs 30:6  “Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.”

All added religious traditions, along with a few bias Bible translations, make it appear like Jesus started a “New” religion, but He said He taught nothing of His own.

John 7:16  “My teaching is not My own,” Jesus replied. “It comes from Him who sent Me.

John 14:10  “Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me?  The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His work.

John 14:24  “Whoever does not love Me does not keep My Words. The Word that you hear is not My own, but it is from the Father who sent Me.”

Jesus Renewed the Broken Physical Covenant, Spiritually

Our Creator, YHVH, calls the world’s ways an abomination.  The people who worshiped false gods did detestable things; sacrificing babies in the fire and Shrine prostitution.

It was so prevalent that YHVH’s Covenant people, Israel, didn’t remain Set-apart from it for long:  Deuteronomy 12:30, 31Deuteronomy 23:17Leviticus 18:21Leviticus 20:23Jeremiah 19:5Jeremiah 32:35Ezekiel 16:212 Kings 17:17Psalm 78:59Psalm 106:37.

This is why a follower of Jesus is still expected to be “Set-apart” from the world.  The Way of Truth and Life will always look counter-cultural, and quite frankly we’ve been told the world hates those who obey YHVH’s Torah:  John 15:18, 19; Matthew 10:22; Matthew 24:9; 1 John 3:13Proverbs 29:27…

Isaiah 66:5  “You who tremble at His Word, hear the Word of the LORD YHVH: “Your brothers who hate and exclude you because of My Name have said, ‘Let the LORD YHVH be glorified that we may see your joy!’ But they will be put to shame.”

Do We Remember Jesus at Passover or Communion?

Luke 22:19; Matthew 26:26; Mark 14:221 Corinthians 11:24  “and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, given for you.  Do this in remembrance of me.”

Yehoshua is the original Hebrew Name of Jesus, it means, YHVH Is Salvation.  He was more that a righteous Jewish Rabbi, He Is, Was and always Will Be, the Salvation of our Eternal/Spiritual Creator, The Living One, who was murdered and is now alive forever and ever…, Revelation 1:18.

Yehoshua revealed that Passover/First-fruits and eating Unleavened Bread for seven days pointed to His Sinless Body and the Passover Wine was His own Covenant Blood.

Luke 22:20; Matthew 26:28; Mark 14:24; 1 Corinthians 11:25   In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new Renewed Covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

What I’d always known as Communion now has a depth of meaning that can only come from knowing I’m participating in the annual Passover Covenant.

Not like the conditional Covenant given to Moses at Mt. Sinai, this is the unconditional Covenant cut by our Heavenly High Priest, Yehoshua.

Hebrews 8:1  We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2 and who ministers in the sanctuary and true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man. 3 And since every High Priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, it was necessary for this One also to have something to offer.

Romans 6:5 For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in resurrection.

The Physical Copy Was the Shadow of the Spiritual/Heavenly

The first Passover, witnessed by Moses and the conditional/physical covenant at Mt. was the Copy and Shadow of the Heavenly/Spiritual;  Exodus 25:9Exodus 26:30Exodus 25:40; Exodus 27:8; Numbers 8:4Acts 7:44.

Hebrews 8:5  “They serve a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle, “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

The New Testament Reveals the Renewed Covenant

The Hebrew word Chadash #2318, means ReNew, Restore, Repair.

The Torah remains Spiritually complete from the foundation of the world, Matthew 13:35; Hebrews 4:3.  So a more accurate translation for the “New” Testament writings would be the “Renewed” Covenant.

Jesus did not add any New Testaments/Covenants and He did not begin any New religion.  YHVH Is One and there is only One Spirit of Truth, Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29.

Jesus “Renewed” the prophesied Spiritual Covenant, (see YHVH’s unconditional Covenant with Abraham that would bless All people of the earth, Genesis 12:3; Acts 3:25).

He exposed the additions and subtractions of the religious leaders, (legalism) and He revealed what Moses and the Prophets said was about Him; Matthew 1:22; Luke 18:31; Luke 22:37; Luke 24:27…

Luke 24:44  Then he (Jesus) said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law (Torah) of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

Torah Points Mankind Back to The Tree of Life

YHVH, (He Exists) made it clear that He/His Word Is Unchanging and that His Word from the beginning is Holy/Perfect/Eternal/Spiritual; Deuteronomy 7:9; Psalms 119:119Zephaniah 3:5Hebrews 6:171 Thessalonians 5:24; Romans 7:14…

YHVH’s Torah is The Light, Proverbs 6:23 and Yehoshua Is the Light, John 8:12.    From the beginning Adam knew YHVH’s Torah, the Light shining in the Way of Truth, and Life.  Adam’s son Cain also knew, but just like today, mankind loves darkness, John 3:19.

Didn’t Cain Give His First-fruits?

Genesis 4:5  …He, (YHVH #3068) did not Look with Favor (Shaah #8159) on Cain or his offering.  So Cain became very angry, and his countenance fell.  6. “Why are you angry,” said the LORD YHVH to Cain, “and why has your countenance fallen?  7. If you do what is right you will be Accepted.  But if you refuse to do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it’s your desire, but you must master it.”

Sin is our desire to eat from the Tree of Death (the knowledge of good and bad).  Like Adam and Eve, we still want to know, meaning to Experience, (Yada #3045) what we’re told is bad.

Test my words, the Light of Torah existed from the beginning, before YHVH revealed His Covenants to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob/Israel and before Moses received the 10 Commandments, inscribed on stone by the finger of God, Exodus 31:18.

Our Creator Revealed and Fulfilled First-fruits

1 Corinthians 15:45; Genesis 2:7 ,  and so it has been written, “The first man (adam #120) is of the dust of the ground…” The last man is the Lord YHVH’s Life-giving Spirit.

At YHVH’s Appointed Time, Torah, (The Word) became flesh, John 1:14  just as prophesied, the promised Seed/Messiah Yehoshua came in the Name of YHVH, Psalm 118:26; Matthew 21:9; Matthew 23:39; Mark 11:9; Luke 13:35; Luke 19:38; John 12:13.

Despite our confusing translations, Yehoshua made sure no one would think He abolished the Torah or the Prophets when He said He fulfilled them:

Matthew 5:17-19  “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law (Torah) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or tittle, will pass from the Law (Torah) until all is accomplished.  So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

So even if an Angel from God teaches you a different Good News than YHVH revealed to mankind through His Torah, and all the Writings that match up, test it before believing it.

Even if we or an Angel from God teaches the Good News differently, let them be cursed, (removed from God’s Favor), Galatians 1:8.
