The Oneness of His Name

The Oneness of His Name

Echad

“…YHVH Echad,” is the original Hebrew phrase translated, The Lord, (YHVH) is One.  We see this phrase in the opening line of the Shema, Deuteronomy 6:4.  Quoted by Y’shua, (Jesus); Matthew 22:37; Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27 as being the essence of all YHVH’s instructions.  He even explains the true meaning of Echad.

Holy Father, keep them in Your Name, the Name which You have given Me, that they may be One even as We are One. While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your Name which You have given Me,  John 17:11,12

Y’shua’s prayer to His Father reveals the true meaning of Oneness as being Unity in the Name of YHVH.  Taking the Name or being in The Name represents being in Covenant. Those who, Shema/hear and do YHVH’s instructions are called His children, 1 John 5:2 and those who don’t are not. Deuteronomy 32:5

They (the religious leaders) replied, “Abraham is our father.” Y’shua said to them, “If you are Abraham’s children, you would do what Abraham did.”  John 8:39

What did Abraham do?  Abraham wasn’t Jewish, Christian or Muslim.  He was a man who faithfully left his pagan cultural practices and obediently followed the Unseen voice of his Creator.

Abraham was considered Righteous solely by his loyal, faithful, obedience, James 2:23Genesis 15:6.

The Original Meaning of A Name

There was a time I did an exhaustive study on every Biblical Name, title and reference of God that I could find.   I learned the original Hebrew Name is synonymous with ones Character, Reputation, Authority,  and Attributes.  In other words, it’s who they are.

Our Maker addressed Himself to Moses as YHVH, (He Exists).  He said, it is My Name forever,  Exodus 3:15;  Exodus 3:14.  Originally appearing in the TaNaK (Old Testament)  close to 7,000 times before it was changed to Adonai meaning Lord.

Y’shua would have known the correct pronunciation of YHVH during His ministry yet He taught His followers to address the Unseen as their Father.

“Our Father who is in heaven, sanctified be Your Name.” Matthew 6:9

“The nations will see your righteousness, And all kings your glory; And you will be called by a new Name Which the mouth of YHVH will designate.” Isaiah 62:2

“…and I will also write on them my new Name.” Revelation 3:12

“…having His Name and the Name of His Father written on their foreheads.” Revelation 14:1

“they will see His face, and His Name will be on their foreheads.” Revelation 22:4

“And on His robe and on His thigh He has a Name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelation 19:16

Why did the Scribes Replace YHVH with Adondai or LORD 6,832 times?

The scribes believed The Name was too sacred to speak, let alone to write.  So in order to protect The Name from misuse they were careful not to mark the middle and last vowels of the tetra-gram preventing anyone from knowing its correct pronunciation.

Y’shua would have pronounced YHVH’s Name every time He quoted from the TaNaK. Every Sabbath The Name was pronounced in the synagogues when reading the Torah portions.

Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord (YHVH) your God (Elohim) to the test.'” Matthew 4:7

“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD (YHVH) IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSEDLuke 4:18Isaiah 61:1.

Every time we see Y’shua, or any New Testament writer, quoting from the Torah and Prophets, the TaNaK, we can mentally replace LORD with YHVH.

“I have made Your Name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:26

Yehsua came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”  Matthew 28:18Psalm 2:7Revelation 2:26
YHWH

Y’shua came “in the Name of YHVH,” Matthew 21:8-10.

Y’shua taught His followers to Set Apart, Sanctify, Make Holy, The Father’s Name:  Matthew 6:9 ; Luke 11:2

There will be a Revealing of New Names; Isaiah 62:2;Revelation 2:17

HalleluYah “And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of YHVH, and the song of the Lamb, (Y’hushuah,) saying, “Great and Amazing are your deeds, O YHVH Almighty! Just and true are Your Ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear YHVH, and glorify Your Name? For You alone are Holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your Righteous Acts have been revealed.” Revelation 15:3,4
