What is Holiness?

Our Creator Has Made a Distinction

There is a Right and a Wrong way. One leads to Life and the other to Death.

Between Spiritual Life and Physical Death

…and so as to make a distinction between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean… Leviticus 10:10

YHVH Is the Eternal/Spiritual Name of God.  He Is Holy/Set-apart (Qodesh #6944), as in distinguished from the world.  His people are also Set-apart from the world, Leviticus 11:44; 1 Peter 1:16.

Following His instructions is what Sets us apart, Leviticus 22:32.

YHVH appointed the tribe of Levi (meaning attached or to be joined) to be Set-apart as His priests.  His priests served in His temporary, physical temple as a copy and shadow of the Lasting Spiritual, Heavenly Temple; shown to Moses on Mt. Sinai.

YHVH’s Spiritual Temple now resides within us; Ezekiel 37:27John 14:231 Corinthians 6:191 Corinthians 3:162 Corinthians 6:16Romans 8:9.

Keep in mind, YHVH’s יְהוָֹה Torah תּוֹרָה, and the Prophets whose words match up, were the only Scripture that existed at the time of Jesus/Yehoshua, meaning YHVH Is Salvation.

The duties of YHVH’s Priests are described in great detail in His Torah, and Yehoshua revealed a Spiritual mystery when He said, “these are the very Scriptures that testify about Me, John 5:39.

YHVH has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a Priest Forever According to the order of Melchizedek, (King of Righteousness).”  Psalm 110:4

Yehoshua, the King of Righteousness, (Melchizedek) is our forerunner and Priest Forever, Hebrews 6:20.

Yehoshua Is The “Spiritual” King of Righteousness

Matthew 10:34  Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

The prophesied Messiah came with a Sword, meaning the Word of YHVH, Ephesians 6:17Hebrews 4:12.  He came to divide His Spiritual Truth from the deception of the world, by the Sword of His mouth, Revelation 1:16; Revelation 2:12; Revelation 2:16; Revelation 19:15; Isaiah 49:2.

He is Our “Spiritual” High Priest

What exactly is the Ancient Hebrew meaning of a Priest or Kohen?  This definition comes from Jeff A. Benner’s Ancient Hebrew research:

Priest

כֹּהֵן
While the priests of Israel were the religious leaders of the community this is not the meaning of the word kohen. The Hebrew word for the priests of other nations is komer from a root meaning burn and may be in reference to the priests who burn children in the fires of Molech (2 Kings 23:10). The word kohen comes from a root meaning a base such as the base of a column. The koheniym (plural of kohen) are the structural support of the community.  It is their responsibility to keep the community standing tall and straight, a sign of righteousnessStrong’s: #3548

Now we can understand what it means to be “a Column in the Temple,”   Revelation 3:12

To understand our role as YHVH’s priests we must first understand the Hebrew word Echad #259, meaning One.  Echad describes the mystery of our Oneness and Unity of Life in YHVH’s Spirit.

John 17:23 And I have given them the glory which You have given Me, so that they may be One, as We are One–

When we know we have the same Life giving Spirit of The King of Righteousness living in us, we obediently begin living by His definition of what is Right, Good and True.

“But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their sensibilities to distinguish Good from Evil.” Hebrews 5:14

“But when Christ/Messiah came as High Priest… He entered the greater and more perfect temple not made by hands (that is, not of this creation).” Hebrews 9:11

…”who has made Us to be a kingdom, priests to YHVH our Father–to Him be the glory and power forever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 1:6

Revelation 5:10  “You have made them into a Kingdom of Priests to our God, and they will reign on the (reNewed) earth.” Matthew 5:5Psalm 25:13Psalm 37:9Psalm 37:11.

“… they shall teach My people the difference between the Holy and the Profane, and cause them to discern between the Unclean and the Clean.” Ezekiel 44:23

“Her priests have done wrong to My Torah and have profaned My Holy (Qodesh) things; they have made no distinction between the Holy and the Profane and they have not taught the difference between the Unclean and the Clean; and they hide their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.” Ezekiel 22:26

He who justifies those who do bad and condemns those who do good, Both of them alike are an abomination to YHVH, Proverbs 17:15

A Holy Priest of YHVH Does What He Says

Yehoshua, our High Priest, has made us priests who recognize when YHVH’s Holy Instructions have been polluted by the additions and subtractions of mankind.

“Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar.” Proverbs 30:6 Deuteronomy 4:2Deuteronomy 12:32Revelation 22:18Revelation 22:19

As priests we will be able to distinguish who serves/obeys YHVH and who does not.

“So you will again distinguish between the Righteous (those who do right) and the wicked, (those who do wrong) between One who serves God and one who does not serve Him. Malachi 3:18.
