All Foods are Clean is a Dirty Translation

Did Peter interpret his vision to mean unclean animals are now clean?

Acts 10:17
“While Peter was puzzling over the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house and approached the gate.”

Acts 10:19
“As Peter continued to reflect on the vision, the Spirit told him, “Three men are here looking for you.”

Peter’s Conclusion and the meaning of the vision:

Acts 10:34Acts 10:35 “Then Peter began to speak: “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism, but welcomes those from every nation (people) who fear Him and do what is right.…

Truth always matches Torah.  Y’shua is, was and always will be impartial, cleansing the hearts of all people who seek Him.

Deuteronomy 10:17
“For YHVH your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe.”

Y’shua did not add to or take away from YHVH’s Word, (that would have made him a false prophet, see Deuteronomy 4:2Deuteronomy 12:32).

Thus all foods are clean?

Mark 7:19“…because it does not enter his heart, but it goes into his stomach and then is eliminated.” (Thus all foods are clean.)

Depending on the translation, the addition of the phrase, Thus all foods are clean, is in parenthesis because the translators have added their own bias to the original topic beginning in Mark 7:5, The traditions of men VS The Unchanging Torah of YHVH.

Mark 7:8;  Matthew 15:3 You have disregarded the Commandment of God to keep the tradition of men.”

In these parallel passages, Matthew 15 is clearly referring to the topic of eating food (of course clean food) with unwashed hands, Matthew 15:2.

Hand washing is a tradition of man and not a command of YHVH.  These religious leaders were enforcing their own traditions, as if they were YHVH’s Words.

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.  These are what defile a man, but eating with unwashed hands does not defile him.”Matthew 15:19, 20

No more need to abstain from any food as long as we Give Thanks?

1 Timothy 4:3  They will prohibit marriage and require abstinence from certain foods that God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

Leviticus 11 records YHVH’s definition of the food he created to be received with thanksgiving.  Those who know and believe His Torah have the ability to discern false teachings. Someone prohibiting marriage and teaching abstinence from certain foods, such as eating vegetables only, would be recognized as false prophet.  Romans 14:2

Regarding Fasting, (Not Eating Unclean foods).

Romans 14:3
“The one who eats everything must not belittle the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him.”

Everything is permissible?

1 Corinthians 6:12
“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.

1 Corinthians 10:23 “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is edifying.…”

Translation makes it difficult to see that Paul is disagreeing with the person he is quoting. Even Peter said Paul’s letters were hard to understand and people were distorting his words, 2 Peter 3:16.  If Paul’s teachings don’t match Torah, check context and translation.

1 Corinthians 6:15  Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!

His answer is clearly No.  In context, participating in Temple Prostitution and Idol worship is the topic.  Although an Idol is nothing, so meat offered to an Idol is nothing, there must have been a few who thought it was permissible to continue in their sexual immorality.

Our Freedom is from the curse of sin and death.

Torah shows us the Way of Freedom, James 1:25,James 2:12.  The Truth, (Torah) does set us free, John 8:32.  And when we walk in Torah we are free from the curse of sin and death. Y’shua is Torah, John 1:1 .  Our bodies are His dwelling place…we were bought with a price….so glorify Him in all we do, 1 Corinthians 6:19

Don’t judge me?

Colossians 2:16
“Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a festival, a New Moon, or a Sabbath.”

Notice we are not to let anyone judge us in what we do.  We have only One Judge, James 4:12

In context, Paul is confronting the heresy of false teachers, Colossians 2:8.  Based on their own, man-made doctrines, Colossians 2:22.

In Y’shua the Messiah we have no more condemnation, Romans 8:1  It was our curse that was abolished, not the everlasting, perfect, unchanging Words of Torah, Psalm 19:7Psalm 119:89Hebrews 6:17.

Matthew 5:17-19 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law,( Torah), or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. 18 For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law (Torah) until everything is accomplished. 19 So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.…”
