Sukkot Is Our Creator’s Fall In-gathering
The Hebrew word Sukkah translates into English as a Booth, Hut, Dwelling or Tabernacle. It comes from the root word, Sakak, Strong’s #5526b, meaning “to be woven or knit together.”
Each year, in the 7th Biblical month, when the moon is completely renewed by light, the Israelite’s were instructed to dwell in “Temporary Shelters” for seven days.
This is our Creator’s 7th Appointed Time and it belongs to no religion.
Are you an Israelite?
At the risk of offending the majority, there are no Spiritual division. There are no Jewish, Christian or Muslim additions and subtractions allowed by our Spiritual Creator’s Torah:
There is only One God, our Spiritual Creator, Who identifies Himself as YHVH, meaning He Is, He Was, He Shall Be, and we All become One in His Spiritual Life:
“that All of them may be One, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me,” John 17:21
“But he who Unites himself with the Lord (YHVH) is One with Him in Spirit,” 1 Corinthians 6:17
“For in One Spirit we were All baptized into One Body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were All given One Spirit to drink,” 1 Corinthians 12:13
“There is One Body and One Spirit, just as you were called to One Hope when you were called; 5 One Lord, (YHVH) One Faith, One Baptism,” Ephesians 4:4
If you believe and have been Renewed with Spiritual Life, AKA Born Again, through the Word of Truth, Jesus/Yehoshua (YHVH Is Salvation), you are United to Spiritual Israel, Genesis 32:28; John 1:12, Hosea 1:10; John 3:3; Ezekiel 36:26; 1 Peter 1:23.

Appointments Set from the Beginning of Time
“In the beginning God said, let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to make a distinction between the day and night and they did exist for Signs and Seasons/Appointed Times, (Moedim #4150) and for Days and Years.” Genesis 1:14
Fall begins in the 7th month (Chodesh means Renewed Moon which is the Sign of a Renewed Month). A count begins with the sighting of a sliver of light on the right or bottom side of the moon, (the waxing crescent) linking the final three Moedim together.
The first day, beginning in darkness, is Yom Teruah (Day of Trumpets). 10 days later is Yom Kippurim, (Day of Atonements), and 5 days later is the 15th day, Sukkot, (Dwellings).
The moon is full, and those who keep or guard the Word of YHVH, (He Is, He Was, He Shall Be) are ready to stop, cease, rest from all their bondage work, and begin celebrating the Fall In-gathering by dwelling outside for seven days:
“On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, you are to hold a Set-apart (קֹדֶשׁ Qodesh) Assembly/Reading (מִקְרָא Miqra); you must not do any bondage work, and you shall observe a Pilgrimage (חַג Hag) for
the LORD יְהוִֹה YHVH (#3069) for seven days.” Numbers 29:12
“On the eighth day you shall have a Closing, (from the root עָצָר A’atzar) you shall do no bondage work.” Numbers 29:35
the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Appointed Time of Booths (Sukkot) for seven days to the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH, Leviticus 23:34.
…the first day is a Set-apart, (Qodesh #6944) Assembly/Reading, (Miqra #4744); you shall do no bondage work of any kind, Leviticus 23:35
“For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to
the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH. On the eighth day you shall have a Set-apart Assembly/Reading (Miqra) and present an offering by fire to the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH; it is an assembly. You shall do no bondage work,” Leviticus 23:36…
(The Offering made by fire is referring to the Fall In-gathering,) Exodus 34:22
All People Will Be Blessed
“The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles (Nations, Peoples) by faithfulness, and foretold the Good News to Abraham: “All nations/peoples will be blessed through you.“ Galatians 3:8; Genesis 22:18
If you’ve ever been unclear about “The Good News,” that’s it in a nutshell, All People will be Blessed, and the Blessing is Life Forevermore:
“It is like the dew of Hermon falling on the mountains of Zion. For there
the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH has bestowed the Blessing of Life Forevermore,” Psalm 133:3
“I (יְהוָֹה YHVH) call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you Life and death, Blessing and cursing. So choose Life, so that you and your descendants may Live,” Deuteronomy 30:19
“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of Life that God has promised to those who love Him,” James 1:12
“Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the Tree of Life and may enter the city by its gates,” Revelation 22:14
Why Do We Rest on the First Day and Eighth Day?
Jesus or Yehoshua would have been born in a Sukkah in Bethlehem and we know all Hebrew males were circumcised on the 8th day.
“Generation after generation, every male must be circumcised when he is eight days old, including those born in your household and those purchased from a foreigner— even those who are not your offspring,” Genesis 17:12
Because Everything Happens at YHVH’s Appointed Times
the LORD YHVH Himself will give you a Sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His Name Immanuel, (with us is God), Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:23.
“The Word became flesh and made His Dwelling (Sukkah) among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace/favor and Truth, John 1:14
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the Dwelling (Sukkah) place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God, Revelation 21:3; Ezekiel 37:27; 2 Corinthians 6:16
That’s why I personally believe Yehoshua was born on the first day of Sukkot, and circumcised on the eight day, but no were in Scripture are we instructed to celebrate His birthday.
On the contrary, we are given clear Instructions not follow the customs of the nations or to do what the nations do for their gods:
Only someone unfamiliar with YHVH’s Word would Add Yehoshua’s birthday where there is no instruction to, like December 25th, and then Remove His 7 Appointed Times.
These are YHVH’s Instructions for Sukkot
39 ‘On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the Pilgrimage (חַג Hag) of
the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day.
40 ‘Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before
the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH your God for seven days.
(See Nehemiah 8:15 for more on the branches)
41 ‘You shall thus celebrate it as a Pilgrimage (חַג Hag) to
the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH for seven days in the year. It shall be a Perpetual, (עוֹלָם Olam #5769) statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 ‘You shall live in Booths, (סֻכָּה Sukkah #5521) for seven days; all who are born Israelite’s, (and Spiritually born Israelites) will live in booths,(סֻכָּה Sukkah) 43 so that your generations may know that I had the children of Israel live in Sukkah’s when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I Am the LORD יְהוָֹה YHVH your God.’ Leviticus 23:39-44
How to Begin Keeping Our Creator’s Appointments
Sukkot is like the original Thanksgiving Harvest/In-gathering Feast, along with the experience of dwelling, (eating and sleeping) in a Sukkah for a week.
I began small with a pup tent, but each year as I gain deeper insights about our Creator’s provision and protection my Sukkah celebration also grows:
Here are some additional fun and creative ideas to make your Fall In-gathering celebration an occasion to share with family and friends:
