Who Is The Bride of Messiah?
Metaphorically Speaking, Physical Examples Reveal Spiritual Truth.
Many have heard the story of Adam and Eve but few have eyes to see how the Bible uses physical examples to connect the fall/death of mankind to a future Spiritual redemption/renewed Covenant. From Genesis to Revelation, The Redeemer of all mankind is revealed, Luke 24:27.
“For as in Adam All die, so in Messiah (Anointed/promised Seed) All will be made alive,” 1 Corinthians 15:22.
“Like” a divorce, Adam and Eve’s rebellion separated All creation from Spiritual Oneness with their Creator. Did you notice why they were not granted to eat from the “Tree of Life”? Our Merciful Creator ensured they would not live in their fallen state forever, Genesis 3:22.
They died with hope because they knew death was temporary. They also had eyes to see and ears to hear the physical meanings of this prophetic, Spiritual promise:
“and I will put enmity between you, (the serpent) and the woman, (the Bride). and between your seed, (the serpent) and her Seed, (the Messiah). He, (the Messiah) will crush your head and you, (the serpent) will strike his heal.” Genesis 3:15
As we begin to connect the Woman/Bride/Faithful, with the serpent/sin/death/satan and the head crushing Seed/Messiah/Jesus/Yehoshua/Bridegroom, a picture of our own future redemption from death will begin to unveil.
The History of Israel Reveals Shows a Bigger Picture.
The map above shows a 9th century B.C. division between Israel and Judah. Later in this post we will touch on the origins of Israel but for now the split will show us why Israel has a need for redemption.
During the reign of King Solomon’s son, Rehoboam 930 B.C., the Northern Kingdom of Israel, colored in blue, rebelled and became an independent state until their Assyrian captivity, 722 B.C. The Southern Kingdom of Judah, pictured in gold, existed as an independent state until their, 70 year, Babylonian captivity, 586 B.C.
This obvious physical example of division between Israel and Judah also begs the question, why do we use Judah and Israel interchangeably today? When Israel was chosen for the name of the new Jewish state, 5/14/1948, it became even more synonymous with Judah and Israel’s redemption appears today to have been fulfilled physically.
*Note: Consider Physical Israel was divorced from the physical land and her “Forever” (Olam #5769) promises were always “Spiritual.”
Jesus/Yehoshua, the Messiah proclaimed His Kingdom was not physical but Spiritual.
“My Kingdom is not of this world…” John 18:36
Around 30 A.D. Jesus/Yehoshua, (meaning YHVH’s Salvation) referred to Israel as “Lost Sheep.”
“I was sent only to the Lost Sheep of the house of Israel,” Matthew 15:24; Jeremiah 50:6 .
*Note: Israel is known as the 10 Lost Tribes and also referred to as Ephraim in the Bible: Isaiah 11:13; Hosea 5:3; Hosea 5:13; Genesis 48:20; Genesis 48:17; Hosea 7:8; Hosea 13:1; Hosea 12:1 ; Isaiah 9:21.
Ephraim means Fruitful. He was Joseph’s second, half Egyptian, son who received the double portion blessing of the firstborn, from his grandfather Jacob/Israel, Genesis 48:19.
Israel Was Divorced “Like” a Faithless Wife.
Remember, physical examples reveal Spiritual truth throughout the entire Bible.
“For your Husband is your Maker, Whose Name is the LORD (YHVH) of hosts; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of all the earth.” Isaiah 54:5
“And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a writ of Divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also.” Jeremiah 3:8
“Like” Death, Divorce Separated Physical Israel from God’s Covenant.
The Northern Kingdom of Israel broke the Covenant they cut with YHVH at Mt.Sinai, (approximately 1500 B.C.). She was called to repentance by the Prophets but instead of returning she made a covenant with false gods, Jeremiah 5:7; Isaiah 57:8. Israel was removed from the “Land” because she committed great harlotry, Hosea 1:2.
The Assyrians took Israel captive in 722 B.C. and the 10 Northern tribes were divorced. Israel never returned, she became scattered, like seed, among the nations; Hosea 1:4; Hebrews 9:19; Exodus 19:8; Exodus 24:3; Exodus 24:4; Exodus 24:7; Joshua 24:24; Deuteronomy 4:25,26.
136 years later, the Southern Tribe of Judah began to slip into unfaithfulness and it landed her in Babylonian captivity. Judah was separated from the land, not divorced. Just as the prophet Jeremiah prophesied, her Babylonian captivity was seventy years.
Cyrus, the Persian King, fulfilled the words of the prophets, Isaiah 44:28 and Judah returned to the Land and rebuilt the Temple, Ezra 1:1; 2 Chronicles 36:22. (See Babylonian Chronicles and Cyrus Cylinder for extra Biblical history).
“This whole land will be a desolation and a horror, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.” Jeremiah 25:11
When Re-marriage is Forbidden.
“…then her former husband, who sent her away is not allowed to take her again to be his wife, since she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the LORD, (YHVH) and you shall not bring sin on the Land which the LORD (YHVH) your God gives you as an inheritance.” Deuteronomy 24:4.
*Understand, there is no taking a wife back after she makes a covenant with another.
Yehoshua Refers to Himself as “The Bridegroom.”
“Can the guests of the Bridegroom fast when He is with them?” Mark 2:18-20; Matthew 9:15.
It takes about 30 minutes to read the book of Hosea, meaning Salvation, but it will open your eyes to the most beautiful physical analogy revealing our Creator as a Faithful husband and a repentant Israel/Ephraim’s ultimate Spiritual redemption/betrothal.
“I will betroth you to Me forever, (olam #5769); Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness (Tzedek) and in justice, (Mishpat) In loving kindness (Chesed) and in compassion, (Racham), I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, (Emunah). Then you will know YHVH.” Hosea 2:19
“I will go away and return to My place Until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.” Hosea 5:15
“…I will redeem them from death…” Hosea 13:14
Physical Covenants Only Bind, ‘Til Death Do Us Part.
“Messiah redeemed us from the curse of the law…” Galatians 3:13.
Did you catch that? The curse of the Law was abolished, Not the Law/Torah.
“Do not think I came to abolish the Torah and Prophets…” Matthew 5:17-20
Redemption Has Always Been a Spiritual Promise.
Yehoshua renewed a Spiritual Covenant by His own (Life’s) blood, Matthew 26:28.
“Whoever eats my flesh, (“I Am the bread of Life,” John 6:35) and drinks my blood, (“the Life is in the blood,” Leviticus 17:11) has eternal Life, and I will raise him up at the last day,” John 6:54
Bread/Flesh and Wine/Blood are Covenant terms referring to the Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread. (The Bible forbids consuming blood, Leviticus 17:12, these are metaphors revealing their Spiritual meanings.)
If you are familiar with the Feast of Unleavened Bread it will be easier to connect Messiah’s Resurrection from physical death on the third day/First-fruits, Galatians 3:14, with being, First-born from the dead, Colossians 1:18, and the significance of the First-fruits blessing the rest of the harvest, Romans 11:16; Ezekiel 44:30.
Why Messiah’s Lineage Was Set Apart/made Holy.
Anyone who searches the Spiritual Torah and Prophets can verify if what they hear and believe is True, Matthew 24:11; Acts 17:11.
Israel’s grandfather, Abraham, was a Middle Eastern gentile, (goy). He proved faithful when tested, Genesis 22:16. He was chosen to be the father of many nations/peoples, Genesis 17:4, but most notably, he received the promise of The Seed through whom All the nations/peoples of the earth would be blessed.
The same All-inclusive promise can be traced from Adam to Yehoshua. The Messiah came through Isaac, Jacob/Israel, and more specifically through the tribe of Judah and King David: Genesis 12:3; 18:18; Genesis 22:18; Genesis 26:4: 28:14; 49:9; Isaiah 9:7; 11:1; Micah 5:2; Zechariah 3:8; 6:12; Psalm 72:17; Romans 15:12; Revelation 5:5; 22:16.
“The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his Seed. The Scripture does not say, “and to seeds,” meaning many, but “and to your Seed,” meaning One, who is Christ/Messiah.” Galatians 3:16
How Is Israel/the Bride Set Apart/Made Holy?
Israel is Set Apart/Made Holy by keeping YHVH’s Commandments, Deuteronomy 28:9.
The Bride is Set Apart/Made Holy by keeping YHVH’s Commandments, Leviticus 19:2; 1 Peter 1:16; Revelation 14:12
The Spiritual Marriage Covenant is Not for The Dead.
“Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the Law (Curse of sin and death) through the body of Christ/Messiah, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.” Romans 7:4
“But when God found fault with the people, He said: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, (YHVH) when I will make a new/spiritual covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.” Hebrews 8:8; Jeremiah 31:31
The Holy City and The New Jerusalem are Adorned as a Bride.
“I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Revelation 21:2
“The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the Water of Life drink freely.” Revelation 22:17
The Bride Is Called By Her Husband’s Name.
“…and All the Nations, (Goy #1471) who are called by My Name…” Amos 9:12; Isaiah 43:7; Acts 15:17.
YHVH is a Spiritual Name, it means He Is, Was and Always Will Be, He Is The Living One. This is the Name the Bride receives when she enters YHVH’s Spiritual/Eternal Covenant.
Physical Oneness Reveals Spiritual Oneness.
“I and the Father are One.” John 10:30
The Bible reveals Spiritual Oneness by using physical examples: A marriage covenant makes the two become One, Genesis 2:24. Judah and Ephraim, the two sticks, are prophesied to be restored as One, Ezekiel 37:19. There is One Body with many parts, 1 Corinthians 12:12; Romans 12:5, and One Shepherd with One Flock. John 10:16
Yehoshua prayed for us to have Oneness in His Spirit, (Echad #259):
All (Spiritual) Israel Will Be Saved.
And so All Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come from Zion, He will remove godlessness from Jacob, (Israel). And this is My Covenant with them, when I take away/atone for, (kaphar #3722) their sins.” Romans 11:26; Isaiah 59:20, 21; 27:9; Jeremiah 31:33, 34.
“The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the nations, (Goy #1471) by faith, and foretold the gospel/good news to Abraham: “All nations/peoples will be blessed through you.” Galatians 3:8
How Does The Bride, Spiritual Israel, Make Herself Ready?
“Let us rejoice and celebrate and give Him the glory. For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His Bride has made herself ready.” Revelation 19:7
Before Israel divided and was conquered, she was given birth through the crucible of bondage in Egypt. Fire is “likened” to a purifier and our Creator Is “Like” a Refiners Fire and Fuller’s Soap, Malachi 3:2.
Israel’s physical redemption from affliction and bondage in Egypt reveals the bigger picture of the earth’s (eretz) spiritual redemption from affliction and bondage to the curse of sin and death; Hosea 11:1; Exodus 4:22; Matthew 2:15.
*Israel has always been all-inclusive, Numbers 15:15, 16. The name Israel means, those who contend and prevail/overcome/endure faithfully/victoriously. Connect Israel with the victorious who will be granted to eat from the tree of (spiritual) Life, Romans 9:25; Hosea 2:23; 1 Peter 2:10
“The Kingdom of Heaven/God is “Like” a Wedding Banquet…” Matthew 22:2-14
Fine Linen Wedding Attire, Righteousness, is Required.
The Fine Linen Garments = The Righteous Acts of the Holy.
The original Hebrew word for Garments/Attire is Med # 4055, meaning Armor.
The book of Ephesians gives a detailed description of our “Spiritual Armor.”
“Be Clothed with the full Armor of God…,” Ephesian 6:11-19.
I grew up hearing, “we are saved by grace through faith…not by works,” Ephesians 2:8,9. I wrongly interpreted, “not by works/actions,” as meaning, we didn’t have to do the ten commandments to be saved.
Although the Commandments, (Mitzvot) do not save, they define Righteousness, (Tzaddiq #6662): James 4:17; Hebrews 13:16.
And Righteousness Is, Was and Always Will be the Way of Life.
“There is Life in the Path of Righteousness,” Proverbs 12:28.
As I’ve prayed for Wisdom to understand God’s Word for myself I can now see His Spiritual Covenant is with the Righteous. This means it is with those who hear and do what He says is right, which is summed up by the Ten Commandments and later Yehoshua sums them up even further by quoting the Shema, Hear and Do, Deuteronomy 6 and Leviticus 19:18, Love your Neighbor.
“…buy Gold refined by fire…White Garments so that you may be Clothed…”Revelation 3:18
Finally, we see Gold refined by fire paralleled with buying White Garments.
The Commandments of YHVH…are like Gold purified by fire, Psalm 12:6 on the Path of Righteousness/Life does not mean the Bride is trying to redeem or save herself. Our Redeemer and Salvation Is, Was and Always Will Be our Spiritual Messiah/Bridegroom/Yehoshua, meaning YHVH’s Salvation.
The required wedding attire has not changed. The fine-linen garments are still our Righteousness actions and Righteousness is still the way to Life; Matthew 5:20; 21:32, 2 Peter 2:21; Romans 6:19; 10:5, Ephesians 4:24...
The Bride is not presented until she is without a spot or wrinkle, Holy/ Set Apart from the world, and Blameless, Ephesians 5:27.
To “Know” Him.
“By this we can be sure that we have come to Know Him, if we keep His Commandments,” 1 John 2:3; 3:22; 5:3; John 14:15; 15:10; Revelation 12:17; 14:12;
“To Know” is used as a Covenant term in the sense of a marriage Covenant, like Adam “Knew” Eve. When they choose ate from the Tree of “Knowledge” of Good and Bad, they “became One with.” “To Know” is “Being in covenant with.”
This brings light to the parable of the Ten Virgins”
Five of the virgins didn’t have oil in their lamps and the Bridegroom said, “I do not know you.” Matthew 25:12. He wasn’t being coy with the women, He was saying “we are not in Covenant.” The physical oil and lamp have a spiritual meaning. Just as olive oil gave physical light to the menorah, Torah gives light to the world. Oil represents Torah and those who Keep His Commandments; Exodus 27:20, 35:8; John 8:55.
Inside the Wedding Banquet there was a man who was not wearing the required fine-linen garments/righteous actions and now we know why he was cast outside, Matthew 22:12,13.
“I shall say to them plainly, I never Knew you, depart from Me you workers of Lawlessness/without Torah,” Matthew 7:23
“be dressed/girded for service, keep your lamps burning. Then you will be like people/servants waiting for their Lord/Master, when He returns from the Wedding Feast, that when He comes and knocks they open to Him immediately,” Luke 12:35-37.
The Second Death/Separation and The Second Resurrection.
Our Creator warned us ahead of time, many are called but few are chosen. Few will be ready at the First Resurrection. Just as there will be a second death/separation there will also be a second resurrection. All can die with hope in the power of His Unfailing, Merciful Loving Kindness, Matthew 20:16; 22:14.
Many will be outside of the Kingdom and experience a second Death/Separation, which is called the Lake of Fire, Revelation 20:14.
“The Victorious/ those who Prevail, (Israel) will not be harmed by the second death,” Revelation 2:11.
Its time to challenge our man-made, “eternal” Hell Fire doctrine. God’s Word assures us that death is the last enemy/satan to be destroyed, confirming from beginning to end, that death is not eternal, see https://kaylened.wordpress.com/category/hell/.
“…there will be no more death…,”1 Corinthians 15:26; Revelation 21:4.
“The Lord, (YHVH) is not slow to fulfill His Promise, as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting one to perish but All to come to repentance.” 1Peter 3:9.
His arm is not too short, and it is by His arm we have salvation. He will redeem All who turn from their transgression, Isaiah 59.
