Parable of the Treasure

The kingdom of the heavens is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and in his joy he went and sold all he had and bought that field.”  Matthew 13:44

What is the Treasure?

The Original Hebrew descriptions of Treasure is something safe keeping:

  1.  Otzar #214 from Atzar #686 a stored up treasure.
  2. Genaz #1596 from Genez #1595 a treasury.
  3. Segullah #5459, a treasured possession.
  4. Matmon #4301, a hidden treasure.

These are all so close but in this parable we are told the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure.  According to these four Hebrew words the treasure is something valued enough to be keep stored or hidden.

What is The field?

The field is explained earlier, in The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds, as meaning the earth, land or world, the Hebrew word Eretz #776.

The field is the world,” Matthew 13:38

Also keeping in mind the explanation of soil or ground represents the heart in The Parable of the Sower.

When anyone hears the message of the kingdom but does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.”  Matthew 13:19

Who is the man?

In the Parable of the Sower, the man, sowing good seed is the Son of Adam, a phrase referring to Y’shua (Jesus).  Matthew 26:24Matthew 24:30

He replied,“The One who sows the good seed is the Son of Man (Adam).” Matthew 13:37

At first glance the man in the field resembles Y’shua in the Parable of The Sower until we remember He is not the one instructed to search for His Kingdom, we are;

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Purchase, Buy, Acquire The Lasting Treasure With All You Have

In this next verse Y’shua instructs “a man” to sell everything and give to the poor in order to acquire treasure in (The Kingdom) heaven.

On hearing this, Jesus told him, “You still lack one thing: Sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” Luke 18:22

Interestingly, we are instructed to seek both YHVH’s (He Exists) Unseen Spirit and His Unseen Kingdom, with a promise it will be found by those who seek,  Deuteronomy 4:29 ; Jeremiah 29:13Matthew 7:7.
The Description of His Spirit is Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Strength, Knowledge, Truth, and Reverence of YHVH.

The Spirit of YHVH is His Treasure

The Spirit of YHVH will rest on Him, (Y’shua) The spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, The spirit of Counsel and Strength, The spirit of Knowledge and the Fear of YHVH.”  Isaiah 11:2

“The faithfulness, trust, belief, steadfastness, (emuhah #530) of your times will be a wealth/riches, (chosen #2633) of Salvation, (Yeshua #3444) Wisdom, (Chokmah #2451) and Knowledge, (Daath #1847); The Fear, (Yirah #3374) of YHVH is His Treasure, (Otzar #214).”  Isaiah 33:6

We Are To Seek and Acquire His Spirit of Wisdom

If you seek her (Wisdom) as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures;” Proverbs 2:4

“Acquire (Get/buy) Wisdom! Acquire Understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth, (Torah)” Proverbs 4:5

“The beginning of Wisdom is: Acquire (get/buy) Wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get Understanding.” Proverbs 4:7

“Buy Truth, and do not sell it, Get Wisdom and Instruction and Understanding.” Proverbs 23:23

How much better is it to get/buy Wisdom than gold! and to get Understanding …”  Proverbs 16:16

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all
generously and without finding fault, James 1:5

These are All One in YHVH’s Kingdom

Yehoshua/Jesus is the Seven Spirits of YHVH,  the prophesied Root (Descendant) of Jessie, Isaiah 11:1, 10; Revelation 22:16; Romans 15:12.  He is in the midst of the seven Lamp stands, (Menorah), which are the seven Assemblies, Revelation 1:13, 20

Seven Lamp stand

With this knowledge of YHVH’s original Word we can see that we are the man, seeking and finding the hidden/unseen/spiritual Kingdom.  It is in the world and in our hearts, it is in our midst but not observable because it is not physical, Luke 17:20; Luke 17:21John 18:36.

When we find the wealth/riches/treasure of Life in His Spirit, we will joyfully sell all that we have in this temporary life to gain Lasting Life in His Kingdom.
