Parable of The Dragnet or Fishnet

Parable of The Dragnet

Once again, the Kingdom of the Heavens is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea, gathering fish of every kindWhen it was full, the men pulled it ashore. Then they sat down and sorted the good fish into containers, but threw out the bad.

So will it be at the end of the age: The angels will come and separate the wicked, (the bad), from the righteous, (the good), and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, (very upset and angry)”  Matthew 13:47Matthew 13:48Matthew 13:49Matthew 13:50”

Dragnet

#1.  The Kingdom of Heaven is like a Fishnet.  “figuratively fishing for people,” Luke 5:10

#1.  The Sea is a Hebrew Idiom for Many Peoples/Nations

“Alas, the uproar of many peoples Who roar like the roaring of the seas, And the rumbling of nations Who rush on like the rumbling of mighty waters!” Isaiah 17:12

“Who stills the roaring of the seas, The roaring of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples.” Psalm.” 65:7

“There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among the nations, bewildered by the roaring of the sea and the surging of the waves.” Luke 21:25

“Then the angel said to me, “The waters where you saw the prostitute seated are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.” Revelation 17:15

A word study of Ezekiel 47, compared with Revelation 22 is also very insightful:  note the differences and references of these original Hebrew words:

Water, (mayim #4325) represents the Living Water of Torah

River/brook, (nachal #5158) represents water flowing from the Sanctuary/Throne

Sea, (yam #3220) represents multitudes.

Fish, (dagah #1710) represents the multitude of people in the sea.

#2 Angels Sorting The Good and The Bad Fish at The End of the Age

The Kingdom of Heaven will be known to all at the end of the age also known as Judgement Day.  This is when the chaff is removed from the Wheat and the bad fish are removed from the good fish.   The chaff and the bad fish represent those who do bad.  Everything Bad (Ra #7451) will be cleansed away/purified, like chaff in a fire, like gold refined in a furnace/crucible.

“His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear, (cleanse) His threshing floor and to gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff, (everything bad), with inextinguishable, (asbestos #762) fire.Matthew 3:12

The wicked, (rasha #7563) are not so, but they are like chaff , which the wind drives away,”Psalm 1:4Psalm 35:5;  Psalm 37:38; Isaiah 1:31Isaiah 11:4Isaiah 27:4Isaiah 41:16Isaiah 66:24Jeremiah 7:20Jeremiah 15:7Jeremiah 51:2)…

Let both grow together until the harvest.  At the proper time I will tell the harvesters, “First collect the weeds, (those who do bad) and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat, (those who do good) into my storehouse (Kingdom).” Matthew 13:30

Let’s take a moment to Test What The Hebrew says about “Eternal Hell Fire”

Eternal hell fire does not exist in original Hebrew Scriptures.  This man-made mythology blended itself into early church doctrine.  The Fiery Furnace and Unquenchable Fire are known Hebrew Idioms using the example of fire as purifying, having the ability to completely cleanse away chaff/dross/impurities/everything bad.

“Then Death and Hades (Sheol, the Grave) were thrown into the lake of fire.  The second death is the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:14

“The last enemy to be destroyed, (abolished=katargeo #2673) is death.1 Corinthians 15:26

“Do His People Know The Difference Between Good and Bad?

“Moreover, they shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.” Ezekiel 44:23Ezekiel 22:26Leviticus 10:10

Instructions Defining Clean and Unclean Fish

“Of what ever is in the water, these you may eat: all that have fins and scales, those in the water,in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat.Leviticus 11:9

Clean fish

The Good Fish has fins and scales, equating to Clean, Holy/Set Apart from the bad fish.

Unclean fish

A Bad Fish, one without fins or scales, equals Unclean or Common.

His Set Apart People Only Eat Food that is Set Apart

Jesus/Yehoshua did not come to make Peace with the world but with a Sword, (His Word), Ephesians 6:17Matthew 10:34

His Holy (Set Apart) Word teaches His Holy (Set Apart) people how to distinguish between Good and Bad, Life and Death, Holy and Common, True and the False, 2 Corinthians 6:17; Revelation 18:4.

Do You Understand All These Things?

“Have you understood all these things?” “Yes,” they answered. Then He told them, “For this reason, every scribe, (man of learning) who has been discipled in the Kingdom of Heaven is like the Landowner, (one with authority, oikodespotés #3617) who brings out of his treasure stores things new and old. Matthew 13:51Matthew 13:52

The Old or First is Physical, The New or Renewed is Spiritual

So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being;” the last Adam, (Y’shua) a Life-giving Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 15:45

The spiritual,however,was not first,but the physical,and then the spiritual,” 1 Corinthians 15:46

“and we know that The Torah is Spiritual,”Romans 7:14.

This is the last of Yehoshua’s Kingdom Parables found in Matthew 13.  Each one shining new Spiritual Light on what He established from the beginning. Psalm 19:71 Samuel 15:29

Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done...”Isaiah 46:10
