How The Wheat Harvest Reveals Spiritual Life.
Shavuot is The 4th of Our Creator’s 7 Sacred Days
From the Festival of Unleavened Bread we count 7 Sabbaths to the Festival of Weeks. There are 7 weeks between the Sheaf Wave offering of the First-Fruits of the Barley harvest to the First-Fruits of the Wheat Harvest.
“You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete Sabbaths. You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to YHVH.” Leviticus 23:15; Leviticus 23:16.
Shavuot begins its count after the sheaf wave offering, seven Sabbaths/Weeks will always bring us into the third lunar month, in the summer, and the day after the Sabbath will always be a Sunday.
In the third lunar month Moses was given The Torah, in writing by YHVH, over 3,300 years ago, Exodus 19.
Shavuot means “Weeks” in Hebrew
Shavuot is translated the Feast of Weeks, Numbers 28:26 , Oaths, First-fruits Festival of the Wheat Harvest, In-gathering and in English it is known as Pentecost, meaning 50.
Shavuot Connects The Wheat Harvest, Torah and Spiritual Life.
YHVH’s Feast Days reveal the times of His Spiritual fulfillment’s.
Why is Unleavened Bread required at the Spring Barley harvest? Why two leavened loaves of Wheat bread at Shavuot in the Summer? Leaven is forbidden in any grain offering except on Shavuot, Leviticus 2:11.
“You shall bring in from your dwelling places two loaves of bread for a wave offering, made of two-tenths of an ephah; they shall be of a fine, (sifted), flour, baked with leaven as first fruits to YHVH.” Leviticus 23:17
Metaphorically Speaking, Y’shua Reveals His Connection.
Y’shua, (Jesus) said, I Am The Bread of Life, John 6:48
“I Am the Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will Live forever. And this Bread, which I will give for the Life of the world, is My flesh.” John 6:51
Parables are physical examples of spiritual reality. The proud heart is blind and deaf in understanding. Only the humble heart perceives these mysteries.
Salvation is Revealed in YHVH’s Seven Appointed Days
Yehoshua, Yeshua’s full Hebrew Name, means YHVH’s Salvation. He is the Passover Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, John 1:29. His sinless, (unleavened) body was Buried the first day (sundown) of the seven days of Unleavened Bread, He Resurrected on the Third day, as The First-Fruits of the Barley sheaf wave offering.
He appeared to over 500 witnesses in His Resurrected body, 1 Corinthians 15:6.
On the fortieth day of the count to Shavuot, Y’shua ascended up to heaven after instructing His followers to wait in Jerusalem for The Promise of His Father, Luke 24:51
(The number of 40 days also has a Spiritual meaning, Exodus 24:18)
Ten Days Later, At the Wheat Harvest, His Spirit is Given.
Shavuot is the only time leaven is allowed in a grain offering, two finely sifted loaves of wheat bread are waved as the First-Fruits offering. The First-Fruits offering is not only an acknowledgement that all sustenance comes form YHVH, it is also the promised blessing on the rest of the harvest.
View Torah through spiritual eyes we perceive mankind’s need to become a new/unleavened/humble batch of dough. The new dough is leavened with Truth/ Spirit, 1 Corinthians 5:8.
In Y’shua’s Parable of The Wheat and The Tares, Matthew 13:30, He reveals that all mankind is growing together in the field (the world). At the time of the Spiritual Wheat harvest, (His Second Coming) those who bear the fruit of the wheat berry are called the children of the Kingdom, Matthew 13:38. They are gathered into His barn, (His Kingdom). Everything that remains is like waste material, chaff that is burned away in the fire.
The Wheat Harvest is Plentiful.
Shavuot, is one of three pilgrimage Festivals when every male of YHVH’s Assembly, (or Body) is instructed to return to Jerusalem, Deuteronomy 16:16.
At the Spring Pilgrimage Festival of Passover/Unleavened Bread, we get rid of the old yeast, (false teachings, hypocrisy, pride…) to become a New batch.
The Kingdom of heaven is like yeast added to three measures, (3 saton #4568=9 gallons).
The Bride (The Woman) Has Made Herself Ready
Taking a peek ahead to the book of Revelation we see several clues pointing to the New/Spiritual Jerusalem and metaphors of the woman, the Bride, and the Marriage of the Lamb.
Shavuot reveals our Creator’s salvation plan from the beginning. Just as Torah was given, in writing, to a “mixed multitude,” Exodus 12:38, it pre-existed before YHVH created the physical nation of Israel.
Israel is descriptive of All His people: It has a general meaning of one who struggles and perseveres, (sarah #8280) and overcomes/prevails/has power, (yakol #3201), Genesis 32:28; Isaiah 14:1; Ephesians 2:12
The Bride Has Been Redeemed, Ephesians 2:15
