The Misunderstood 7th Day/Sabbath
Sabbath means 7th day rest, to cease, end, finish or complete.
The All Powerful Creator of the Universe was not tired after six days of creating. The the 7th day Sabbath is more like the “rest note” on a sheet of music. An entire symphony, in sync with the music, knows exactly when to stop and for how long.
Our Creator orchestrated perpetual cycles. We can observe these beginnings and endings: evening, darkness, sleep, death, each new morning light revealing wakefulness, birth and life.
The Sun, Moon and Stars are set on perpetual courses, as a Sign, (Moed) in the sky for Seasons, Years and Months. Their paths can be calculated with mathematical precision, right down to the 24 hour day and Seven day week cycle.
“Then God Blessed the Seventh day and Set it Apart, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.” Genesis 2:3
In six days, (of darkness and light) God created the universe, (one verse) and when He finished He created the Seventh day (Sabbath) and Blessed (Baruch) and Set it Apart (qodesh) from the other six days.
Every 7th day reveals mankind’s Blessed Eternal Rest.
“Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: with YHVH a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day,” Peter 3:8 referring to Psalm 90:4
Did Jesus Un-Bless The Seventh Day?
Declaring the end from the beginning our Creator’s purpose Is established and His will Is done, Isaiah 46:10.
Perfect from the day our Creator spoke the Universe into existence, from the Aleph to the Tav of His Torah remains established in the heavens: Psalm 119:89; John 1:10; Colossians 1:16, 17; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Hebrews 1:2, 11:3; Revelation 2:8, 3:14, 22:13…
Only a man with no understanding of Torah, (a Light shining/directing mankind on the Path of Truth and Life) would add to or take away from the Eternal, Spiritual Torah, Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:19.
“We know that Torah is Spiritual…” Romans 7:14
Some major changes were made official at the council of Nicaea, A.D. 321 and later at the council of Laodicea, 336 A.D.
This excerpt was taken from the Catholic Catechism Q. and A. The last one explains why the 7th day Sabbath was changed to Sunday.
Q. Which is the Sabbath day? A. Saturday is the Sabbath day.
Q. Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? A. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea, (AD 336) transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday….
Q. Why did the Catholic Church substitute Sunday for Saturday? A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday, because Christ rose from the dead on a Sunday, and the Holy Ghost descended upon the Apostles on a Sunday.
Q. By what authority did the Church substitute Sunday for Saturday? A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday by the plenitude of that divine power which Jesus Christ bestowed upon her! Rev. Peter Geiermann, C.SS.R., (1946), p. 5
As lay people gained access to the Scriptures in their own language they began protesting some of the obviously false doctrines of Catholic church. In 1517, Martin Luther’s 95 Thesis became famous.
Sadly his attempt to reform what was wrong began the innumerable protestant divisions of today. We must continue to strive for the unity Jesus prayed for, that All may be One as God Is One:
John 17:21 that all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
The Seventh Day is the Sign
Regardless of how many observe it, our Creator’s 7th day remains Blessed. He kept it, Adam kept it, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Nehemiah, Mary, Messiah and all His followers.
The Sabbath is a Delight
“If because of the Sabbath, you turn your foot From doing your own desire on My Holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of YHVH honorable, And honor it, desisting from your own ways, from seeking your own desire and speaking your own word, Isaiah 58:13
Moses Wrote Down the Details
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it set apart, (qadash 36942). “Six days you shall labor, (abad #5647) and do all your work, (melakah #4399) but the Seventh day is a Sabbath of YHVH your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you, Exodus 20:8-11.
Contrary to what we’ve been taught, Jesus never broke the Sabbath, on the contrary He was “sinless,” 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Sin is defined by the Ten Commandments.
The Fourth Commandment says; “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy/set apart,” Exodus 20:8
“Then Jesus and His companions went to Capernaum, and as soon as the Sabbath began, Jesus entered the synagogue and began to teach.” Mark 1:21,22,39
He corrected the man-made additions and subtractions.
“If a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the Law, (Torah) of Moses will not be broken, why are you angry with Me for making the whole man well on the Sabbath?” John 7:23
Picking heads of grain when you’re hungry is not harvesting or breaking the Sabbath.
“At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.” Matthew 12:1
According to Torah it is okay to pick grain, (with your hand) from anyone’s field, when you’re hungry. Needless to say, we are never to use a sickle in someone else’s field.
“When you enter your neighbor’s standing grain, then you may pluck the heads with your hand, but you shall not wield a sickle in your neighbor’s standing grain. Deuteronomy 23:25,
Jesus gave this warning to those who break the Commandments and teach others to do the same;
If there is still any doubt that Jesus and every first century follower kept the Seventh day Holy please take some time to study the practices of the 1st century believers: Acts 13:14, 27, 42-44; 15:21, 16:13, 17:2, 18:4.
‘The Son of Adam (Man) is LORD/YHVH (the Eternal Name) of the Sabbath,” Matthew 12:8. Sabbath Is, Was and Will Be the 7th day.
“Jesus said, if you want to enter Life, obey The Commandments,” Matthew 19:17.
Qur’ran Surahs (Verses) Regarding Sabbath
“And you had already known about those who transgressed among you concerning the Sabbath...” 2:65
“And We raised over them the mount for [refusal of] their covenant; and We said to them, “Enter the gate bowing humbly”, and We said to them, “Do not transgress on the Sabbath”, and We took from them a solemn covenant.” 4:154
“And ask them about the town that was by the sea – when they transgressed in [the matter of] the Sabbath – when their fish came to them openly on their Sabbath day, and the day they had no Sabbath they did not come to them. Thus did We give them trial because they were defiantly disobedient.” 7:163
