Proverbs Chapter 13

1. A Wise, (Chakam #2450) son, (ben #1121) heeds his father’s, (ab #1) correction, (musar #4148) but a mocker does not listen, (shama #8085) to rebukes, (gearah #1606)
2. From the fruit of man’s mouth he eats, (akel #398) every good thing, (tov #2896a) but the soul of the treacherous, (bagad #898) is violence/wrong, (CHamas #2555).
3. The one who guards, (natzar #5341) his mouth keeps, (shamar #8104) his soul, (nephesh #5315), but the one who opens wide, (pasaq #6589) his lips will come to ruin, (mechitta #4288).
4. The soul (nephesh #5315) of the sluggard, (atzel #6102) desires, (avah #183) and has nothing, (ayin #369), but the soul of the diligent, (charuts #2742) is satisfied, (dawshane #1878).
5. The Righteous, (Tzaddiyq #6662) hate/turns against, (sane #8130) what is false, (sheqer #8267) but the wicked, (rasha #7563) make themselves foul, (baash #887) and ashamed, (chapher #2659).
6. Righteousness, (Tzedaqah #6666) guards, (natsar #5341) the way of the blameless, (tom #8537 from tamam), but wickedness, (risha #7564) overthrows, (salaph #5557) those who bear their blame, (chattath #2403b).
7. One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
8. A man’s riches may ransom, (kopher #3724a) their life, but the poor hears, (shama #8085) no threats, (gearah #1606 from garar).
9. The light of the Righteous, (Tzaddiyq #6662) rejoices, (samach #8055), but the lamp of the wicked goes out, (daak #1846).
10. Arrogance/Insolence, (zadon #2087) gives only strife, (matzah #4683 from natzah) but Wisdom, (Chokmah #2451 from Chakam) advises/counsels, (yaatz #3289).
11. Worthless, (hebel #1892) wealth, (hun #1952) decreases, (maat #4591) but gathering, (gabatz #6908) by hand increases, (raba #7235a).
12. Hope, (tocheleth #8431) deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing, (taavah #8378) fulfilled, (bo #935) is a Tree of Life, (chayyim #2425b).
13. Whoever despises, (buz #936) the Word, (Dabar #1697) is bound to his debt, (chabal #2254a), but whoever reveres, (yare #3372a) a Command, (mitzvah #4687) is rewarded/complete, (shalem #7999a).
14. The Teaching (Torah #8451) of the Wise, (Chakam #2450) is a Fountain of Life, turning a person from the snares of death, (maveth #4194).
15. Discretion, (Sekel #7922) gives Favor, (Chen #2580) but the way of the treacherous, (bagad #898) is ever flowing/recurrent, (ethan #386).
16. All who are shrewd, (arum #7922 from arom) act with Knowledge, (Daath #1847 from Yada) but a fool, (kesil #3684) spreads, (paras #6566) foolishness, (ivveleth #200).
17. A wicked messenger, (malek #4397) falls into bad, (ra #7451b) but a faithful, (emun #529 from aman) representative, (tzir #6735a) brings healing, (marpe #4832).
18. Whoever neglects, (para #6544a) correction, (musar #4148) comes to poverty, (resh #7389 from rush) and dishonor, (qalon #7036) but whoever guards, (shamar #8104) reproof, (tokachath #8433b) is honored, (kabad #3513).
19. A desire, (taavah #8378) fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination, (toebah #8441) for fools, (kesil #3684) to turn, (sur #5493) from bad, (ra #7451b).
20. Walk with the Wise and become Wise, for a companion of fools will do bad, (raa #7489a).
21. Bad, (raah #7463a) pursues the sinner/guilty, (chattah #2400) but the Righteous, (Tzaddiyq #6662) are rewarded/complete, (shalem #7999a) with every Good thing, (Tob 2896b)
22. The Good, (Tob #2896a) leave an inheritance, (nachal #5157) for their children’s children, but those who bear their blame/a sin, (chata #2398) their wealth/power, (chayil #2428) is stored, (tsaphan #6845) for the Righteous, (Tzaddiq #6662).
23. Abundant, (rob #7230) food is in the fallow/ground/tillage, (nir #5215b) of the poor, (rush #7326) but it is swept away, (sapha #5595) because of injustice, (lo #3808).
24. Whoever withholds, (chasak #2820) the rod/scepter, (shebet #7626) hates/turns against, (sane #8130) their children, but the one who loves their children corrects, (musar # 4148) them diligently, (shachar #7836).
25. The Righteous, (Tzaddiyq #6662) eat to their soul is full, but the stomach of the wicked, (rasha #7563) will want, (chasir #2637).
